Team AkzoNobel announces TNG Swiss Watches as official timekeeper

TNG Swiss Watches Team AkzoNobel

Team AkzoNobel has appointed TNG Swiss Watches as official timekeeper to its campaign for the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race. To commemorate the Dutch campaign, TNG has created a limited edition line collection of watches featuring the team AkzoNobel colors and logo.

Originating in the Netherlands, TNG Swiss manufactured products combine Dutch design expertise with intricate Swiss engineering and have long been synonymous with the sport of sailing. In fact, the three initials in the company’s name stem from “Tack and Gybe” – the two key maneuvers in yacht racing.

“We are delighted to have TNG Swiss Watches join our campaign” said team AkzoNobel skipper, Simeon Tienpont. “It’s our ambition to win the Volvo Ocean Race and great to partner with a brand so closely linked to the sport of sailing. The TNG team AkzoNobel range of watches also looks fantastic and we are looking forward to wearing them around the world.”

Added Frans Dingerdis, TNG’s Founder: “As a sailor there is no greater challenge than to win the Volvo Ocean Race. As a Dutch nautical watchmaker there is no bigger honour than to be the official timekeeper for team AkzoNobel in their bid to win this legendary competition!”

TNG’s team AkzoNobel Watch Collection includes a special line of limited edition timepieces, each branded with the official team AkzoNobel colors and logo. The exclusive range features three models: the team Sports Gents, the team Sports Lady and the team Sailing Gents.

In addition, the team Sailing Gents model will be available in a “Simeon Edition”. This exclusive run of just 100 pieces has been signed by the team’s skipper, a double America’s Cup winner and two-time Volvo Ocean Race competitor.

Backed by leading global paints, coatings and specialty chemicals company AkzoNobel, Tienpont and his crew will take on up to seven other professional teams in the round-the-world race, which starts in Alicante, Spain, on October 22.
